On September 6, 1928 a huge hurricane caused devastation throughout it’s path. As many 1,200 people were killed because the lake flooded from the hurricane. The winds were 160mph. That is why we have our dike now!! Lake Okeechobee Hurricanes Hurricane Watch

 Lake Okeechobee is 9 feet deep 4 miles into it and in the middle it is 25 feet deep. It is 35 miles long and has small little islands. It is the largest lake in Florida and second largest fresh water in the United States.

 We are famous for our fishing. We are known as “Bass Capitol of the WORLD.” People come from all over the world to fish in Lake Okeechobee.

 Okeechobee has more kids who will know this place as a wonderful home. This is lots of kids HOMETOWN HODOWN!! We have tons of friends and it is a small town but it sure does WELCOME you to our HOMETOWN!!!!! On the map you can look for a lake and there is our Hometown!!

 Chobee has wonderful jobs such as teaching, firefighters, police, and all of our fantastic wonderful artifacts that are in our amazing, wonderful town of Okeechobee we have so many things to offer you. Lots of people live in this small town, but we sure do love our CHOBEE!!!

 Central Elementary is a spectacular A school!! We have been an A+ school for a few years know and we are going to keep it that way!!!!!!!! We have awesome teachers (Mrs. R Jones if we had to choose) we always adore her. We also attend this amazing school.
