Shepard Fairey “One of today’s best known and most influential street artists”

THE EARLY DAYS Born on February 15,1970 and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He first became obsessed with art in 1984 at the age of 14. Fairey then started to put his artwork on the back of skateboards and on the back of t-shirts.

The Break Out The piece of artwork that got Shepard famous was Andre the Giant Has a Posse.

Today Shepard Fairey has been a big name during the election of the first African American president. He has also recently gotten arrested for graffiti and may even get sued for creating the Obama HOPE poster. This is because he copied a picture of Obama taken by the Associated Press. He is also designing the cover for Led Zeppelin’s new biggest hits album.

Influences One person in which Shepard Fairey was influenced by is one of the best pop artists of all time, Andy Warhol.
