4-H 4-H is the nation’s largest youth organization and is in more than 80 countries It’s a community of young people learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills. 4-H is part of the Cooperative Extension Service

4-H Teaches Life Skills

Starting a 4-H Club Submit a 4-H Volunteer Application/Permission to Screen to the county extension center Extension Center completes references and background checks If approved, volunteer participates in orientation and training Determine a safe consistent meeting location Market the 4-H Club program through flyers, information nights, etc Work with community resources to identify 4-H members (minimum of 5 youth) –Collect 4-H Enrollment Forms for all youth Club leader meets with youth to determine 6-month plan of work including a minimum of one community service project Youth vote on a non-discriminatory name for the 4-H club Elect club officers (unless the youth are 5-8 years old) Submit required forms to 4-H office: –Charter application (includes club name, meeting times/topics, officers names) –Six-month plan of work –4-H Enrollment Forms –All reasonable efforts form

Don’t Want to Start a Club Consider recruiting a group of moms to help you get started – one for every month Enroll your children in 4-H as an “At- Large” member –They can participate in any county 4-H activity/contest without attending monthly meetings.
