What are MP3 Files MP3 is an audio format used for storing music, and voice MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 MPEG is a standard for compression of video and audio by losing some quality The iPod, and Microsoft Zune are examples of MP3 players MP3 files can also be played on some cell phones and other devices MP3 files can be set up to play in a PowerPoint presentation 2Victoria Ricciardiello

Setting up an MP3 to Play in a PowerPoint Presentation Both the PowerPoint presentation and the MP3 file need to be on the same storage medium The MP3 needs to be inserted to your presentation from the storage medium The MP3 and the presentation must always remain together on the storage same medium otherwise your music will not play Decide which slide you want the music to start onDecide how many slides you want the music to play through 3Victoria Ricciardiello

Getting Started Click on the slide on which you want the MP3 to start playing From the Insert tab on the Ribbon, click on the Audio icon down arrow – Select the option for Audio from File – Select your audio MP3 file from your storage medium 4Victoria Ricciardiello

Setting the Playback Specifications The MP3 Icon is now displayed on the slide where you want to music to start playing Click on the Playback tab on the Ribbon – Select the options to Loop until Stopped – Select the option to Start Automatically 6Victoria Ricciardiello

Setting the Music to Play For this example, assume that you want the music to start on slide 5 and so that is the slide where you inserted the music You also want the music to play through 4 slides. – Therefore the music will play through slides 5, 6, 7, and 8 and then it will stop In order to set this criteria, you need to display the Animation tab and then select the Animation Pane – Your music will display in the Animation Pane Follow the instructions on the next slide to finish setting the music 7Victoria Ricciardiello

Finishing the Music Setup Click the down arrow next to the music in the Animation Pane Select Effect Options The Play Audio dialog box will display On the Effect tab, under the option to Stop playing select After and then enter 4 – This is because you want the music to stop playing after four slides 8Victoria Ricciardiello
