Sir John Everett Millais He was born in St. Helier, Jersey in He studied at the Royal Academy Schools. One of the three principal members of the Pre- Raphaelite Brotherhood formed in He was made President of the Royal Academy in 1896 but died the same year.

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood he Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was created in 1848 by seven artists. Their goal was to develop a naturalistic style of art, throwing away rules and conventions. Raphael was the artist they considered to have achieved the highest degree of perfection.

Lorenzo and Isabella This was painted with oil on canvas. It was signed and dated JE Millais 1849 PRB. It was his 1 st Pre-Raphaelite painting and was completed when he was only 19. he initials PRB also appear on the side of Isabella's stool.

Lorenzo and Isabella Con’t Lorenzo and Isabella was based off John Keats's poem 'Isabella' or 'The Pot of Basil'. Keats's source for this poem was a tale by the 14th century Italian author, Bocaccio.
