2015 Points of Emphasis Triangle Soccer Officials Association “We are all in this Together”

Location of Throw-Ins Be Pro-Active, especially early in the game, with the location of the throw in. Referee’s spot the throw when applicable AR’s do not let the thrower “drift” up field when they are in your proximity. Use a graduated process when a player is taking advantage of the spot of the throw-in: 1.Tell them the spot 2.Use the whistle to back them up 3.Give a foul throw in a non-dangerous area of the field (middle third). *If you give a foul throw make sure you allow the team to get into position on the change of possession.

Health and Safety Suspected Head Injury requires you to stop play immediately Use Common Sense and give water breaks if desired Make sure all of the student-athletes WALK off the field and not LIMP Persistent Infringement

What is it? Who can be involved in this act? *We are not looking for reasons to caution people. Instead, this initiative is being brought to everyone’s attention to promote Health and Safety

Persistent Infringement Players who repeatedly commit fouls Players who are repeatedly fouls Officials need to have AWARENESS of this concept. Officials need to “set up” the person committing the fouls or being repeatedly fouled by giving a BROADCAST message to stop the behavior. No Persistent Infringement caution should be given as a shock to people. Everyone should know when a PI card is coming.

Bench Behavior Communication between the officiating crew and the coaches is paramount. Don’t ignore the Coaches!!!! If addressed Professionally, give the coaches a Professional response. If addressed Inappropriately, give the coaches a FIRM, PROFESSIONAL response ( No Sarcasm !). Do not give the coach Ultimatums: “One more time and your done!” Instead, “Coach, if your actions continue you are going to force me to take action”

Bench Behavior Something to think about: What is the consequence for irresponsible behavior in other sports? Basketball?Football?Soccer? GIVE THE CAUTION TO THE COACH WHEN THEY OVERSTEP THEIR BOUNDARIES

We Are All In This Together!

Let’s Have A Great Season
