Nutritional Relationships Nutritional relationships involve the transfer of nutrients from one organism to another within the ecosystem. Autotrophs are organisms that can use energy from the environment to synthesize their own food from inorganic compounds. Most autotrophs are photosynthetic ,using energy from sunlight and carbon dioxide and water from the environment.

Nutritional Relationships Heterotrophs cannot synthesize their own food and must obtain nutrients from other organisms. Depending on their source of food , heterotrophs are classified as herbivores , carnivores, omnivores and saprophytes.
