The Insurance Service Office (ISO)

The ISO PPC Program What is the PPC? Information on municipal fire protection efforts in communities throughout the United States Who uses the PPC? Insurance companies use it to help establish appropriate fire insurance premiums for residential & commercial properties How is an ISO rating determined? By rating our fire services and water infrastructure with the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS).

Why is this Significant  Provides an objective evaluation of the Fire department  Provides a financial benefit to our residents and businesses.  Recognizes efforts, provides incentives and rewards for communities that choose to improve their firefighting services.  Recognizes the significant efforts of the employees of the department of Fire Rescue and water distribution system

The PPC Evaluation Process To determine a community’s PPC, the ISO conducts on site field survey’s. Using Fire Suppression Rating Schedule, ISO objectively evaluates three major areas:  Call Handling (E -911)  The Fire Department (training, resources, programs, prevention and education, etc.)  Distribution (the water supply).

ISO PPC Stats Our score places the City in the top 5% rated departments in the state and in the top 2% nationwide

Overall PCC Benefit By helping communities prepare to fight fires effectively, ISO’s PPC program saves lives. Using PPC criteria gives guidance for improvements in fire services, as seen in our 2004 strategic plan. PPC measures mitigation efforts, a proven and reliable predicator of future fire losses. PPC data shows link between mitigation efforts and low fire losses.
