2 Why are We Having This Workshop? PRESTO organizers –T. V. Lakshman, Bell Labs –Kobus van der Merwe, AT&T Labs –Jennifer Rexford, Princeton University –Krishan Sabnani, Bell Labs –Thomas Woo, Bell Labs Growing interest in both industry and academia –Blurring of services and network infrastructure –Refactoring the router and management systems –Programmable routers and network virtualization Wanted to bring together a small, focused group –To meet, discuss, and brainstorm these issues
