Status and General Considerations Jian-ping Chen, JLab SoLID Collaboration Meeting May 14-15, 2015

Director’s Review in February 2015: Successful  Executive Summery of the Review Committee Report: “Overall the committee members were very impressed with the quality of the material presented and the state of the project as presented. The committee was very impressed with the high level of international contributions in SoLID. The collaboration should be commended on the international nature of their effort. The committee felt that the project was in a good state to move forward, but also identified a number of areas where additional work will be needed. ”  Recommendations and some Findings Will be discussed in details through out this meeting Director’s Review

Long Range Plan: Mid-2014 to Late-2015 QCD-Hadron/QCD-Phase Joint Town Meeting at Temple University, Sept, 2014 Submitted a Whitepaper on SoLID Several Presentations on SoLID program 1) Overview of SoLID by J. P. Chen 2) SoLID-PVDIS by Paul Souder 3) J/Psi near threshold from SoLID by Zhiwen Zhao SoLID physics program were also shown by several speakers Jianwei Qiu, Ralf Seidl, Jen-Chieh Peng, Andreas Metz, Kroshna Kumar, Naomi Makins, …  SoLID was well presented and well received at the Town Meeting Town Meeting for the Long Rang Plan

Executive Summary Recommendation #1 “With highest priority, we recommend both completion of construction and full operation of the 12 GeV CEBAF at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, along with targeted instrumentation investments, such as the SoLID and MOLLER projects.” Whitepaper from QCD and Hadron Physics Summary of Town Meeting for LRP

NSAC Resolution Meeting in April SoLID Presentation by Haiyan Gao Outcomes: Recommendation #1: Continue from 2007 LRP (JLab operation, FRIB construction, Items from the Symmetry community, RHIC operation) #2: neutrino-less double beta decay #3: EIC #4: MIE (DOE) and MRI (NSF) Resolution Meeting

Address recommendations/findings of the review committee report Continue simulations/R&D/ developing design and plan, … pCDR  draft MIE, ready in half to one year? Work with JLab management to submit MIE by ? Be ready to compete with other MIEs through DOE review (SoLID, Moller from JLab, sPHINEX from RHIC, other MIE projects from the FRIB community and the symmetry community) What’s Next?
