The Baltic Sea Archipelago of Innovation – a Metropolitan Partnership for Growth! The WP 5 Proposal to a BaltMet Innovation & Entrepreneurship Policy

Summary The Baltic Sea Region is not referring to a distinct regional identity, but is a strategic (functional) concept, used to explore the golden opportunity to craft a joint competitive platform for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Northern Dimension of Europe The Baltic Sea Archipelago of Innovation is a proposed innovation and entrepreneurship brand for the BSR, highlighting the region as a number of connected, independent and distinctly unique islands of innovation in a Baltic Sea of entrepreneurial competence and capability. The vision for the BaltMetNetwork is to serve as a strategic platform for developing the Baltic Sea Region into a leading science- and technology-based innovation and entrepreneurship region in Europe.

The BaltMet Policy Framework An Innovation and Entrepreneurship policy, i.e. a vision for the Baltic Sea Region including the principles and policies upon on which the future I&E collaboration between independent metropolitan cities should rest (WP5) A strategy and a governance regime to implement the overall vision of the Baltic Sea Archipelago of Innovation (WP1). A communication framework to be used in branding and marketing the region externally as well as internally (WP2). A portfolio of well connected, globally competitive, science and technology clusters supported by a family of valuable business oriented services (WP3) An Innovation and Entrepreneurship infrastructure based on a set of qualified innovation competencies, and supported by a portfolio of I&E support programs and instruments (WP4)
