Managing Your Time in College URI 101

Poor time management skills Feeling overwhelmed Issues or events in personal life Too many distractions (internet, TV, phone) It is human nature to do what we want/ what’s more appealing to us. Why do we procrastinate? Having good time management skills makes you feel less stressed and more in control of your life.

Time Management Tips Concentrate on one thing at a time. Keep a notepad next to you to write down things you are thinking about and that are distracting you Get them out of your mind and refocus Study difficult or less interesting subject matter first. Get them out of the way before moving on to more appealing subject matter

Time Management Tips Electronics = Distraction Put away your cell phone, turn off your TV, and get off social media before beginning work Having a friend change your passwords to social media sites before big exams will help you stay off them while studying Say NO Learn to say no when you have a lot of work to do Whether it’s friends hanging out or taking on another shift at work, put your schooling first and take on more later

Treat Yourself Reward yourself for working hard. Take a break each time you read a chapter or write a page. Set mini goals for you to achieve as you study. Be Active Study in an environment where you won’t want to fall asleep You need to be energized! Time Management Tips
