Standards and School Effectiveness Primary National Strategy Features of the day: A keynote speech from Lucy Adamson, Primary Language Teaching Adviser with CILT, The National Centre for Languages Live lessons in the afternoon showcasing good practice across the age ranges Workshops on a range of themes to include: practical ideas for integrating languages into PE and mathematics; parachute and playground games; language tasters; transition issues Delegates will be presented with a resource pack including a CD The day will end with some short performances by pupils across the age ranges Stands for publishers and other sources of information and resources will be accessible throughout the morning With the Key Stage 2 Primary Languages entitlement now just a year away, most primary schools are delivering languages and planning for long term sustainability, and secondary MFL departments are considering the implications for transition. The European Day of languages is a perfect opportunity to celebrate best practice in Hertfordshire with a festival of languages designed to inspire and motivate all who attend through workshops, resources and live lessons. The festival is aimed at primary and secondary staff with an interest in the development of Primary Languages with a particular focus on progression and transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3.
