HOW THEIR IT WORKS Does the enterprise have in-house information system people, sub-contractors, or a combination of the two that maintain their information system? What is the reason? 95% is in-house information system employees that maintain and work with the information system 5% is contracted out for when they have big projects E.g. they recently had a cut-over from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange for an server There is a company that provide the WAN that Phillips uses to connect all of their facilities in Wisconsin 12/19/2011ISAP - Three Amigos + 111

THE CHANGE APPROACH Information Systems Change Process Phillips Plastics Corporation has a group in the change process that it has to go through. COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS What types of telecommunications systems support the business information system of the enterprise? NETWORK SYSTEM What types of networks support the business information system of the enterprise? VALUE OF THE INFORMATION Is the information system generating the right information for value-added business process or by a goal orientated decision-maker? Yes, the information system and the Oracle database helps generate the information to get from the engineers to the presses to create the products they sell The financial side of things creates reports to let them know the spending reports People Services gets information generated from payroll, hiring information and everything in between When a People Services employee wants that information they can get it now 12/19/2011ISAP - Three Amigos + 119

INFORMATION SYSTEM PROBLEMS What primary problems/opportunities might a new or enhanced information system solve? The hard drive space on their Novell servers are running out of space and crash because of that The Helpdesk Software still pull information from eDirectory/Novell instead of AD-Windows Because of that there are problems with asset tags and remote control 12/19/2011ISAP - Three Amigos + 120

SCALABILITY Is the information system scalable? Yes, the information system at Phillips Plastics can be changed with different servers if needed. Adding servers where they need to be is possible The servers are hot swappable with power supplies and hard drives 12/19/2011ISAP - Three Amigos + 121

RISKS What are the identifiable risks of/or related to the information system and potential impacts of the risks to the enterprise? Some risks they listed to us were some of these, but not limited to: Users telling information to other people outside of work Security hacks from the outside world A disaster such as a tornado came through and took out where their data center is Some of their servers are getting really old that they crash, so need more backup 12/19/2011ISAP - Three Amigos + 122
