The Aquarium Starring : Fred and Ginger Manny

Manny was bored one summer vacation so he went to the local pet store. He decided to buy a pet that was easy to take care of. Manny didn’t want to have a pet that required a lot of work.

Then he saw Fred and Ginger. They are rare Mexican Walking Fish. They just need to be fed once a day so they are easy to take care of.

Each Mexican Walking fish requires 2 cubic feet of tank space to live in. Manny decided to buy a special tank so Fred and Ginger can be in the same tank.

Guess what????????????????? Fred and Ginger just had 14 babies! Now their tank is too small.

Mexican walking fish care for their young, so Manny wants to keep them together in one tank. He wants to build a new tank that is similar to the old tank.

You and your team have been hired to design the new tank. Each side of the tank will be made of a single piece of glass. Manny needs to keep the shape of the aquarium the same so that it fits in the corner of his room and his mom doesn’t get mad.

Build the aquarium to scale using the cubes. Draw the bottom of the new tank on the graph paper provided. How much water in cubic feet will the new tank hold?

Guess what????????????????? A few weeks later Manny woke up to find 112 more babies! Now their tank is way too small!

Can you build the aquarium to scale using the cubes? Draw the bottom of the new tank on the graph paper provided. How much water in cubic feet will the new tank hold? You and your team are again hired to build the new tank.
