Technology in Education According to the US Department of Education and the National Center for Education Statistics, back in 2009, – 97% of teachers had computers in classrooms – 40% of teachers said they use it often, or sometimes (29%) – Technology stated as needed every day: LCD or DLP projectors (72%), interactive whiteboards (57%), digital cameras (49%).
Now in 2013… We are brining iPads, iPhones, Android, etc into classrooms, and using various apps and websites to promote both technology, creativity and differentiation in student learning.
The Other Side Princeton University and George Washington University banned the use of iPads on campus due to bandwidth overload, claiming a malfunction of Apple’s software. Is this a small preview of a backwards trend? Is the trend in twenty years going to go back towards a paper-and-pencil education?
