1970 In 1970, protest by students at Kent state university in Kent, Ohio began on may 1 st, On may 4th, 1970 members of the Ohio national guard fired into a crowd of Kent state university demonstrators, killing four and wounding nine Kent state students.

1970 continued… Robinson memorial hospital identified the dead students as Allison Krause, nineteen years old of Pittsburgh; Sandra Lee Scheuer, twenty years old Youngstown, Ohio; Jeffrey Glen Miller, twenty years old of 22 diamond drive, Plainsview,illinois; and William K. Schroeder, nineteen of Lorain, Ohio.

1972 In 1972, the first episode of the extremely popular TV series Mash aired on CBS September 17 th. It was based on Richard hooker’s novel Mash. It’s a novel about three army doctors during the Vietnam war.

1972 continued… The general plot mash revolves around army doctors who are stationed at the 4077 th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH). The regular cast were Alan Alda, Gary Burghoff, Larry Linville, Wayne Rogers, Mclean Stevenson, and Loretta Swit.

1977 continued He was pronounced dead by his physician Across the world, radio stations prempt regular formats and begin playing Elvis songs 24/7 His death saddened the world

1978 In 1978, an unusual series of events led to deaths of more than 900 people Though dubbed a “massacre”, what transpired at Jonestown on November 18 th The deaths were in the middle of a South American jungle

1978 continued The Jonestown massacre also remains the only time in history in which a U.S congressman was killed in the line of duty

1979 In 1979, The nuclear accident at three mile island was near Middletown, PA on march 28 th The accident began about 4:00 a.m The main feed water pumps stopped running, caused by either a mechanical or electric failure

1979 continued About 140,000 people evacuated the area for fear of possible radiation The crisis ended on April 4 th It was the most serious in U.S commercial nuclear power plant operating history
