The One With the Most Toys

The Baptism

Parable of the Rich Fool Luke 12:13-21

Jesus, On Greed Greed = “A selfish and excessive desire for more of something than what is needed” Beware! Be on your guard! It’s a trap!

The Rich Farmer Blessed with a bumper crop His solution: Bigger barns for storage Sin is not in the possession, but in the wrong attitude: “Abundant life = material possessions” “Everything belongs to me” We cannot live a Godly life as long as we think that our things belong to us

View from the (no) roof

False Security and True Security “Fool” = one who is… “Without reason” “Lacking in commonsense awareness of reality” Everything is on loan from God Real security can only be found in that which can never be taken from us—our relationship with God

The Message For Us Life without God is meaningless True fulfillment in life can only come through a rich relationship with God Enjoy life in the context of that relationship

Keeping first things first A rich, close relationship with God

Four Principles to Take Away 1.It’s alright to have things, but recognize God’s ownership and our responsibility 2.Use our money for the glory of God and the good of others 3.Trust God to take care of us 4.Get our hearts right about money
