APEX Learning Classroom Expectations

Standard Schedule Each regular student will be scheduled in at least 4 APEX classes.

Why So Many APEX Classes? Kent County High Schools Require from 24 to 27 Credits to Earn a High School Diploma.

These Requirements and You Under Classman (Freshman and Sophomores) Are Required to Earn at Least 7 Credits Each Year At Parkway You Work Towards Earning 3 Credits in Your Language Arts, Science and Math Classes. This Leaves 4 Credits Earned Through APEX.

Your District Selects Your Courses Almost all students will have a social studies class. Most will have a world language class. A business pathway class is suggested. Freshman will take Health and PE Sophomores will take an Elective class All students will carry at least 4 APEX credits.

APEX Grading and Transition You need to complete at least 25% of each of your APEX courses per-marking period. Your grade is determined by your quality of work and progress toward the 25% target. These grades will be transferred with you should you transition at the end of a quarter.

Lab Time Each day you will have one 50 minute class period and a 60 minute lab. If you have a computer with internet access at home you can also work from there. All End of Unit Tests must be completed at school in the lab. End of Unit Tests must be completed to unlock the next unit.

Classroom Expectations No books, food, or drinks are allowed in the lab. Enter the classroom and go to your assigned seat and wait to be given your computer. All day APEX students sit in the front row. You will be on task for the entire class period. You will stay seated unless given permission to get up. You will follow all staff directions.

Computer Use You will be assigned a specific computer for use during class and lab times. The Teacher will sign out a computer to you at the beginning of each class period. The Teacher will collect and you will sign in your computer before leaving the lab.

Computer Use You responsible for the care of the computer you are assigned. 1. You will use the Guest account. 2. You will not separate the keyboard and tablet. 3. You will not download anything to the computer. 4. You will not install anything on the computer.

Listening to Music Listening to music is a privilege. 1. The tablets are muted, and you must have headsets to unmute them. 2. You must be passing all of your academic classes. 3. You can listen to radio stations or other audio streaming sites. 4. You can not stream music videos.

Off Task Behaviors Are Not Allowed! Off Task Behaviors include but are not limited to: 1. News or Sports Articles or Videos. 2. Online or Local Gaming. 3. Any Social Media. 4. Any Video Streaming Sites. 5. Any Shopping Sites

Consequences! Violation of any rule or policy will result in: 1. Loss of use of tablet for the day. 1. If the two old PCs are in use you will go to reflection and use a machine there and be out of the lab for the day. 2. Loss of headset use. 3. Possible discipline referral.

All Day APEX Students Will follow all regular student rules. Will have a custom schedule. Will attend afternoon community. Will sit in the front row.
