Firearms Prohibited firearms (illegal) Gun silencers, automatic firearms, sawed off shotguns and rifles, etc What about prohibited weapons? Restricted firearms (must be registered) Hand guns not prohibited, semi-automatic with length of 470mm and less, telescopic or folding firearms
Non-restricted firearms Ordinary rifles and shotguns Don’t require registration (soon) PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) required for firearm registration Must be 18, lasts five years Age need parent consent and supervision
Firearms offences Min 1 yr for using a firearm during indictable offence – max 14 years 2 nd offence min 3 yrs Some offences 4 yr min (attempted murder, manslaughter, sexual assault, etc) Some 5 yrs – criminal organization
