Student Attendance Policy If you reach or exceed 3 class absences, offering credit may not be valid. Absences included in this policy are excused or unexcused. Medical Absence: YOU MUST BRING A COPY OF THE DR. NOTE TO MS. BAISDEN. If you accumulate 3 absences, a conference with the Adult Education Director is required.

Attendance Rules One Absence:Ms. Baisden will verbally acknowledge that absence and determine if excused or unexcused. Two Absences:Ms. Baisden will contact your parent/guardian and you and inform you of the consequences of this action. –1) A third absence can result in being dropped from the class –2)Continued enrollment in the class with a 3 rd absence requires a meeting with the Director. –3) The Director will consider the reasons for absence along with both quantity and quality of work done so far as part of the decision to remain enrolled or drop.

Examples of Excused Absences Documented illness Family emergency These do not excuse you from doing the work or making up the time.

Conference with Director What are the reasons for your absence and what evidence do you have such as a Dr.’s note specifying the dates you were absent? How can you show that you have been working hard when in class, completing assignments on schedule, passing tests, and generally achieving at a pace where passing and credit would be awarded for this class if you are allowed to stay enrolled? For the first 2 days of absence, how can you show that makeup work or extra efforts were made to catch up? How will things be different in terms of student behavior for the remainder of the EHS semester? How will you do makeup work or additional efforts to compensate for the absence?

EHS Semester Class starts September 19 th –6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Last day of class is January 2nd
