CAS – Zeuthen 2003 Some general comments concerning the school

Transport from / to the Seehotel Morning: l 8:15 Bus leaves the Hotel Evening: l Starting at 18:15, shuttles (Hotel and DESY) will circulate. l Walking back to the Hotel is an interesting possibility!

Lunch at DESY l School’s badge is the “key” to the meal. l Select among the proposed menus or: –Salad buffet, dessert –Sandwich, small salad, dessert l Drinks are available on the tables.

Questions / Problems during the school! l The Organisers (DESY Zeuthen and CAS) will do their best to provide help at any time BUT Katrin VARSCHEN and Suzanne von Wartburg are the experts to help with all kinds of problems (or almost all …)

Programme Overview

The Afternoon courses I l Three courses are proposed: –Optics Design, Measurement and Correction –Linac Structures –Instrumentation, Beam Diagnostics and Feedback Systems l Abstracts for the three courses have been distributed.

The Afternoon courses II l Each participant registers for ONE course. l Lists for registration are in the hall (panel) in front of the lecture room. l Aim is to have an almost equal repartition. l Please register tonight or tomorrow morning until the end of the coffee break. l Confirmation or modifications will be announced/discussed before the lunch.

Guided Studies and Tutorials l Guided studies: Exercises are discussed interactively with the lecturer. l Tutorials: Participants are divided in small groups (3) to discuss their solutions with the tutors.

Poster session (20 th September) l The posters can be presented on the dedicated panels in the hall from Tuesday morning onwards (coffee or lunch break). l On Saturday 20 th, the authors have to be present next to their poster at 12:15 for about 45 minutes (to present their contribution and answer questions).

“Special” Days I l Wednesday 17 th : Visit of Berlin (see distributed programme for social events) l Sunday 21 st : Excursion to Dresden (see social events) l Tuesday 23 rd :Seminar in Berlin and “Conference Dinner” (return by bus).

“Special” Days II l Saturday 20 th and Wednesday 24 th : Individual opportunity to discover the city of Berlin. Individual return with S-Bahn. l The participants who would like to have dinner at the Hotel (20:00) HAVE TO register the day before on a dedicated list located in the DESY hall. l No name on the list = No dinner !

Internet connection at DESY DESY Zeuthen has kindly provided some computers to have a direct access to the Internet.  The room will be closed during the lectures hours.

Guidelines for the Seehotel l Dinner at 19:30 (except Saturday 20 th, 20:00). l Two drinks (soft drink, mineral water, beer or 2 dl of wine) and a coffee are included for the dinner. l Be careful with the X-channels on the TV in your room. l Hotel’s shuttle can be called from different locations in Zeuthen (ask K. Varschen).
