welfare – money that is paid by the government to people who are unemployed, poor, or ill

tolerate – put up with

conk – a procedure in which the hair of an African-American boy is straightened through the use of potatoes, lye, Vaseline and soap

pinnacle – highest point, peak

ultimate – being the greatest

maestro – conductor or leader of a musical performance

haphazardly – randomly and messily

pollutant -something that pollutes

habitat - a place or type of place where a plant or animal normally lives or grows

decomposer - An organism that breaks down dead or decaying organic organisms.
