* THE PURPOSE OF MY INVESTIGATION IS TO DETERMINE WHAT SOLVENTS (TAPWATER, SUAVE HAIRSPRAY, RUBBING ALCOHOL, WHITE VINEGAR, TIDE DETERGENT) WILL REMOVE INK? I AM DOING THIS BECAUSE MY SISTER GETS ICE CREAM, MARKER, AND INK ON HER CLOTHES, THEN MY MOM GETS MAD THAT MY SISTER DIRTIES HER CLOTHES. I WANT TO HELP MY MOM IN HER PROBLEM.

* I HYPOTHESIZE THAT TIDE DETERGENT WILL BE THE BEST SOLVENT TO REMOVE INK. I BELIEVE THIS BECAUSE WHEN I USE DETERGENT, IT REMOVES MOST STAINS TO BE FOUND ON THE CLOTH.

* MANIPULATED VARIABLE: THE SOLVENTS * RESPONDING VARIABLE ;THE REMANDER OF INK LEFT ON THE CLOTH * CONSTANT VARIABLES: THE AMOUT OF EACH SLOVENT, SIZE OF CLOTH, RATING SCALE, TOOTHBRUSH, METHOD OF RUBBING TIME `

* 1. GATHER MATERIALS * 2. LAY OUT FIVE 4 cm x 4 cm PIECES OF CLOTH * 3. DROP TWO DROPS OF INK ON EACH SQUARE OF CLOTH * 4. SPRAY 3 SPRAYS OF ONE SLOVENT ON EACH SQUARE * 5. SCRUB EACH SOLVENT FOR 30 SECONDS WITH A TOOTHBRUSH * 6. LEAVE CLOTH PIECES ON A TOWEL UNDER THE SHADE FOR 3 HOURS

* 7. RINSE EACH CLOTH PIECE IN WATER FOR 15 SECONDS * 8. RATE EACH CLOTH PIECE FOR THE AMOUNT OF INK RE MAINING USING A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 WITH 1 BEING ALL THE INK REMAINING AND 10 BEING NO INK REMAINING. RECORD. * 9. REPEAT STEP FOR FOUR MORE TRIALS

I WAS CORRECT. TIDE DETERGENT DID REMOVE INK WITH THE SCORE OF 1.8. NEXT WAS RUBBING ALCOHOL WITH 2.5. THEN TAP WATER WITH 2.8. NEXT WAS WHITE VINEGAR WITH 3.6. LAST WAS HAIRSPRAY WITH 4.9.
