Skunks are mammals that are nocturnal. Skunks have black and white fluffy fur. They have a bushy tail, short legs, clawed feet, a long snout and whiskers. Skunks are about 37 inches long and weigh about 18 pounds.
Up to four babies are born at a time. They are called kits and they are very small.
Their habitat is under fallen trees and leaves or inside hollow logs. It eats berries, roots, leaves, insects, small rodents, moles and sometimes human garbage.
The skunk’s predators are wolves, foxes, and badgers. Skunks protect themselves with a smelly spray that repels its enemies. They can spray up to 10 feet away.
We like this animal because it is interesting and we know a lot about it.
