Beryllium Physical Properties: – Steel gray, light-weight, brittle – Melting point: 1287 ⁰ C – Good conductor of electricity and heat – Not radioactive, but very toxic General Chemical Properties: – Unexpectedly inert – Not reactive with air, water or even heat Not found free in nature  compound found in rocks and soil Beryllium foil is used in x-rays and integrated circuits It is found in gemstones like aquamarine and emerald

Barium Physical Properties: – Silvery white and soft – Melting point: 725°C – Good conductor of heat and electricity – Has dozens of radioactive isotopes General Chemical Properties: – Very reactive – Water and all non-metals Not found free in nature Abundant in the earths crust, nuts, soils, seaweed, fish, and some plants Barium is used in glassmaking, medicine, and electronics Barium is used to give fireworks it’s greenish color

Radium Physical Properties: – Pure white and soft – Melting Point: 700°C – Good conductor of heat and energy – Radioactive General Chemical Properties: – Most reactive in the family – Reacts violently to air and water Not found free in nature  can be found in different earth levels, rocks, and soil Used in luminous paint, medicine and cancer treatment Used in clock hands until factory workers began to die from it
