How to use the Manual settings

3 main components: Aperture Effects the size of the hole letting light in. High number = small aperture/ less light Low aperture = big aperture/ more light Shutter Speed Effects how long the camera lets light in for. Low light = low shutter speed(to let more light in) Lots of light = high shutter speed(to let less light in) ISO Speed Effects how sensitive the camera is to light low ISO rating = less sensitive to light(for sun) high ISO rating = more sensitive to light(for dark/ night)

To improve your photography results… PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

Taking Photos of…. Still Life Take the photo from an interesting, unseen angle. Make it look like something that it is not. Indoors Take the photo near a window to get natural light in. Don’t use flash, makes the photo look washed out. Be aware of everything in the photo, remove clutter. Outdoors Look for shade, as sunlight can often be to harsh(for portraits)

Taking Photos of…. Food Use lots of natural light Think about the entire image. Set up the food nicely, make it look professional. People Find interesting walls/ backdrops to take the pictures in front of Take many shots from different angles. A photo taken from above will make you appear smaller, and vice versa. Use props such as flowers, bicycles, and anything else that makes it more interesting.

What not to do Do not use auto flash unless you have to – creates a washed out photo, not attractive Do not take a photo that you will have to crop later, compose it perfectly so it will need no editing later. Do not pose in direct sunlight Do not only take photos using what you know, and try new things with the camera.
