Who was involved? Eight secondary schools were identified They had worked on previous ICT/English projects Teachers were known for their ICT work beyond their own department ASTs – encouraged to develop outreach work
Aims of the project To develop the role of ASTs and English teachers with new technologies in English To support ICT teachers in developing the use of ICT technologies within and beyond their own practice To support MFL departments: generating pupils’ speech in the target language To link to the Becta self review framework: procurement of resources that relate directly to school improvement and impact on teaching and learning (Element 2a,b,c) Development since project started: for a variety of reasons, the project embraced other subject areas: 4 schools continued to develop work in the English department;2 schools developed work in DT and maths and 2 were unable to develop the project.

Summer term 2009 Opportunity for colleagues to familiarise themselves with the equipment/basic training by Avermedia Discussion with colleagues from teacher’s own school, subject area, different schools, different subject areas Sharing of initial ideas, plans for use
Autumn term 2009 Opportunities to plan use of visualiser into schemes of learning, collaborative planning, peer support in departments, across school and beyond school Meeting to feed back on impact Development of other colleagues/departments in the project
Spring term 2010 Review of project (impact on T&L, standards, student voice) Opportunity to write up formal action research (optional) Feedback to other colleagues via SLDMs, advance practitioner meetings, Strategy Manager meetings, network meetings Plan to embed use within own teaching and to support at least one other colleague

Evaluation of project so far… time saving spontaneous students liked it supports peer assessment encourages modelling by teacher opportunity to use real texts demonstration of effective writing used to record and upload work to shared area (staff and students)
