WHERE ARE WE GOING? -My friends and I will be traveling to L.A. for 7 days -We will be staying in one hotel -We will be using public transportation and/or renting a car -We will be flying on the cheapest flights available

FLIGHTS -An average round trip between Vancouver and L.A. Costs $334. -The flights leave at varying times of day -The flights will be economy -The flight will be 2 hours and 45 minutes each way

ACCOMMODATION -We will be staying in Omni Los Angeles at California Plaza -The hotel costs $292 per night -We will be paying for a 6 night trip -The hotel is situated in downtown LA, so it is close to the majority of places we will go

TRANSPORTATION My friends and I will maximise our use of public transportation. The hotel we will be staying at is located in downtown L.A, so many of the places we will be going will be very close by. L.A. has a decent bus system, and my friends and I will be able to get to our intended destinations. Just encase we need to travel somewhere further, or we can’t use the buses because of time issues, each of my friends and I have included $100 in our budgets. We will try to avoid needing this money, but we will have it with us for backup. *Actual L.A bus*

BUDGET Flights: -$334 per person -Round trip Accommodation: -$292 per night -$1752 for 6 nights -$584 per person Transportation : -A maximum of 100$ per person Food: -Breakfast and Dinner at hotel (included in price of hotel) -Lunch - $25 each per day for each person -$175 per person Total per person: $1193

HOW WILL I SAVE UP? I Have recently signed with an agent, and started professionally acting, so I will start saving enough money for this trip from grade 10 If I haven’t earned enough from acting, I will work a part time job during my grade 11 summer. I will work at a place like Pink berry, Cactus club, H&M etc. Based on my age at the time I would be applying for a summer time job, lets assume I would be paid minimum wage. Right now, minimum wage in Canada is $10.25 an hour. If I worked for five hours a day I would earn $51.25 a day. Presuming I work for my entire summer break, approximately 2 and a half months, I would earn a total of $3,587. That’s $2,394 more than I need for the trip. With this in mind, I could work for five hours a day for one month and earn $1,435 – still making $242 extra. Or, I could work for three hours a day for 1 and a half months and earn $1,291 - $98 extra. There are still many factors preventing me from calculating how exactly I am going to save up for this trip; such as how much money I will have earned from acting, what jobs are available, what hours are available, how much the jobs pay etc. However, regardless of the uncertainties, looking at how easily I would reach my target from a minimum wage job, I know that I will be able to save up for my spring break trip of 2017.
