Generating Electricity WILF: To be able to explain how kinetic energy can produce electrical energy

Motors Last lesson we covered how passing an electric current through a wire generated a magnetic field. This lesson we will see the opposite, how producing a magnetic field can generate and electric current.

A Motor Current passes through wire A magnetic field forms in the wire attracting it to either the N or S This pulls the wire around causing movement (kinetic energy)

Flemings Left Hand Rule If you point your left forefinger in the direction of the magnetic field, and your second finger in the direction of the current flow, then your thumb will point naturally in the direction of the resulting force!
