Swine Flu!! By Carlos Canizales Mr. G 10/12/09

What Is Swine Flu ?  Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, pig flu and sometimes, the swine) is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus.  Probably it was mostly caused by pigs, carrying diseases, or maybe someone who already have a swine flu.

How do you get Swine Flu? FFFFlu is generally transmitted through the respiratory tract. Droplets of infected body fluids may carry flu when people cough or sneeze.

What are Symptoms of Swine Flu? ffffever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent ccccough rrrrunny nose or stuffy nose ssssore throat bbbbody aches hhhheadache cccchills ffffatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme ddddiarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu

Treatment  If a person becomes sick with swine flu, antiviral drugs can make the illness milder and make the patient feel better faster.  For treatment, antiviral drugs work best if started soon after getting sick (within 2 days of symptoms).

History of Swine Flu  Swine influenza was first proposed to be a disease related to human influenza during the 1918 flu pandemic, when pigs became sick at the same time as humans  1918 pandemic in humans  1976 U.S. outbreak  1988 zoonosis  1998 US outbreak in swine  2007 Philippine outbreak in swine  2009 outbreak in humans

Prevention of the Swine Flu  If you know somone who already get sick by swine, avoid him/her.  Always wash your hands when you touch pets or animals.  Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing during your sickness.
