Gifted OLSAT- achievement test High Achievement- based on two consecutive years of test scores in language arts and math Specific Academic- based on three consecutive years in either language arts or math Intellectual- Only category to test for highly gifted eligibility

2015-2016 Identification Criteria for High Achievement and Specific Academic The GATE office will review results of SBAC administered in 2014-2015 Decision on eligibility will be determined at a later date In previous years a “4” in language arts and math for all three reporting periods was important

Talented Performing Arts Talent assessment areas include: dance, drama, and voice. It is accomplished through a District-wide audition in the performing arts at a demonstration site. Portfolio required

Talented Visual Arts Visual Arts Talent assessment areas include: drawing and painting and consists of portfolio evaluation of student artwork and a District-wide demonstration of student drawings at the demonstration site. Portfolio required

Leadership Ability Students who show confidence and knowledge; influence others effectively; have problem-solving and decision making skills; express ideas in oral or written form clearly; show sense of purpose and direction. Examples include: Student council Mentoring younger stuents Community outreach projects Portfolio required Only 4th grade and above may apply to this category.

Creative Ability Students who characteristically perceive significant similarities or differences within the environment; challenge assumptions; produce unique alternative solutions. Portfolio required Examples include: Student-created original work not based on classroom assignment Screen plays Original speeches Created a board game or video game Only students in 4th grade and above may participate.
