CUSTOMS UNION

Agreement between two or more (usually neighboring) countries to remove trade barriers, and reduce or eliminate customs duty on mutual trade. It is the third stage of economic integration.Customs unions are established through trade pacts.

A trade agreement (also known as trade pact) is a wide ranging(ряд) tax, tariff and trade treaty that often includes investment guarantees.

PURPOSE Purposes for establishing a customs union normally include increasing economic efficiency and establishing closer political and cultural ties between the member countries

Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia - a form of trade and economic integration of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, which provides a unified customs territory within which the mutual trade in goods does not apply customs duties. October 6, 2007 in Dushanbe, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia signed a treaty on the establishment of unified customs territory and formation of the Customs Union. July 1, 2011 at the boundaries of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus abolished customs control.

When exporting goods apply a zero VAT rate and exemption(освобождение) from excise provided documentary evidence of the fact of export. When importing goods into the territory of the Russian Federation from the territory of the Republic of Belarus or of the Republic of Kazakhstan VAT and excise taxes are levied by the Russian tax authorities.

The Southern African Customs Union (SACU) is a customs union among five countries of Southern Africa: Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa andSwaziland. SACU is the oldest existing customs union in the world.It was established in 1910
