Audience Analysis  Why is it important to know about your audience --- your students?  You can plan instruction better.  You can meet their needs.  You can motivate them.  You can help them learn.

What you need to know…  Entry behaviors  Prior knowledge  Attitudes toward content and you  Academic motivation  Educational ability and levels  General learning preferences  Group characteristics

Summary  Online courses need more motivation than on campus courses  You must systematically integrate it from the beginning  Get students to interact with course and each other
