Content Management System  Continuing conversion of  In planning stages for conversion of it.ccri.edu Formation of IT conversion team  An IT site conversion team is in the process of being formed. Please let your supervisor know if you are interested in joining.  All members of the dept. are encouraged to become involved in this project –from passing along suggestions, to writing new content and partaking in the actual conversion to the CMS.

Migration of the Faculty Web  The new faculty Web will be powered by a WordPress back-end.  Reasons: Current method uses FrontPage Server Extensions -a legacy technology which is longer supported by Microsoft. Upgrade to Windows 7  Requires that we provide an alternative to FrontPage edited sites, since FrontPage is not compatible.

Migration of the Faculty Web  The alternatives we feel are reasonable to offer are as follows (in order of preference): Strongly Recommended:  Faculty should be encouraged to migrate their current FrontPage faculty Webs to the new WordPress faculty Web.  For links to various faculty already using this vehicle, plus documentation, go to:  PLEASE NOTE: New faculty Webs (created after June 1, 2011) will be done on the WordPress Web.

Migration of the Faculty Web Not recommended (but possible):  Have Windows XP Mode plus FrontPage installed on the Windows 7 machine. Those of us who have XP Mode installed find that, although it does work, it's rather clunky and disruptive to workflow. At some point, IT User Support will no longer support FrontPage

Migration of the Faculty Web Strongly not recommended (but possible):  Have Expression Web 3, Service Pack 2 ( ) installed on your Windows 7 machine.  This would be an option only for those faculty who are already using Expression Web or SharePoint Designer to update their sites.  Web Services cannot provide training or support for this software and the learning curve is very steep.

Other Windows 7/FrontPage issues Faculty or staff who are serving as Content Managers (IPs) for their CCRI department sites Most are using the content management system to update their sites. Those whose sites have not been converted to the CMS will need to have Expression Web 3, Service Pack 2 installed on their machines Web Services will provide EW 3 training in these cases Please let Sara or me know if you run into this situation A list of Content Managers can be viewed at:

CCRI Mobile Strategy There are various college departments and divisions within departments working on this initiative. It’s important to be aware of the total college involvement in this project and to develop a communication system available to all involved.
