Natural gas By Brock Knutson

What is natural gas? It is a gas that is used a lot inside of your home It is has a verity of uses. It is a flammable gas that is made up of mostly methane.

Combustion of natural gas (formula) Scientists would write the following to represent the combustion of methane. of methane. CH 4 [g] + 2 O 2 [g] -> CO 2 [g] + 2 H 2 O[l] kJ

Where is natural gas located? It is found about a mile below the earths surface

Some of the things that natural gas can be used for are: Barbecues Water Heaters Stoves/Ranges Fireplace Logs Patio Heaters and Fire Pits What are some of the uses for Natural gas?

Yes it can be Natural gas is a gas that you can’t see or smell Because of that reason, the gas company puts a chemical called mercaptan in it. That gives it the smell of rotten eggs Is it dangerous?

Is natural gas a renewable resource? No. It is a fossil fuel. That means that there is only a certain amount that is buried in the earth

Is there a health risk to us, if we continue to use it? Not really. It has far less pollutants in it, compared to coal and others.

Is there something that could replace Natural Gas? Not at this moment in time (or at least from what I have read.)

Pro’s of using natural gas It's clean... It's domestic... it's economical... It's efficient... It's multi-purpose... It's dependable..

Con’s of using natural gas Non renewable resource Difficult to transport Releases a lot of CO2 when burned Effects on the surrounding environment Volatility of Price

Are there other sources of power that can be used instead of Natural Gas? Solar Power Solar power is a form of power that is emitted from the sun.
