Earth and Moon in Space

Important Facts 1. The Earth rotates on its axis. It takes 24 hours to rotate once. (Day/night cycle) or Sun stays in one place.

2. As the Earth rotates, it also revolves around the sun. 3. It takes 365.25 days to orbit / revolve around the sun.

Rotate: Orbit/Revolve: *Do you know the difference between rotate and revolve? Rotate: Orbit/Revolve:

Draw this: Revolve / Orbit Rotate

4. The moon orbits the Earth, and the Earth/moon system orbit the sun. Draw this and label!

5. The path the Earth takes as it revolves around the sun is called its orbit. 6. This orbit is an egg-shaped path called an ellipse.
