What is an Ecozone? Using ecozones to study the land helps us to understand the interconnections among natural & human systems. Canada has 15 ecozones - divided into 47 eco-provinces - further subdivided into 177 eco-regions - broken into 5395 eco-districts There are also 5 marine ecozones around Canada

Why Study Ecozones? Ecozones are useful for studying the land. They help us understand… the interconnections among natural and human systems see humans as an essential part of the Earth ’ s ecosystem, rather than separate from it they are based on the combination of several characteristics: landforms, climate, soil, vegetation, wildlife & patterns of human activity
