DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Location The DEF tank is located inside the rear of the cab. The access door can be found behind the Drivers seat in the step well.

Refilling The DEF tank will hold 5 gallons of Diesel Exhaust Fluid. The message center located on the dash has a green fluid level indicator above the fuel gauge. If the tank falls below 15% an audible reminder and message will appear, reminding you to refill the tank.

Diesel Particulate Regeneration 8415 is equipped with an after treatment diesel particulate filter. This type of exhaust system uses high heat and DEF to clean the exhaust before it leaves the tailpipe. The following indicator lights may appear during operation to make the driver aware of the regeneration process

Diesel Particulate Regeneration

Safety Warning: The Diesel Particulate Filter has been designed by the OEM to perform the regeneration process while the vehicle is in motion. While the vehicle is performing regeneration exhaust gas temperatures can reach 1500 degrees. Although this should occur while the vehicle is in motion, care should be taken to avoid parking the apparatus within 5’ of items that can burn, melt, or explode.
