Where the California Indians Came From 4 Glaciers –Huge slow moving- masses of ice 4 Nomads –a person who keeps moving from one place to another

They followed the food! 4 As the animals left the areas the Asians followed them across glaciers into North America. Let’s go

Lived 4 Klammath River 4 Northern California 4 Very Rainy

Housing 4 Wooden Houses 4 Slanted roofed houses to allow water to run off

Food 4 Salmon –So plentiful you could walk across their backs –Weir Fence used to trap the fish –Women dried it so it would last a long time 4 Wild Animals 4 Acorns –Ground into flour

Clothing 4 Men –Deerskin loincloth –Moccasins with elk hide heels 4 Women –Knee length deerskin skirts heavily decorated

Religion 4 Shaman –Would open the salmon hunting season and the tribe would need to catch enough salmon to last the entire year.
