Dr. Fran Berman, RPI Focus: Discussion of planned BRDI activities and key interests of sponsors Improving the Sharing of Earth Observation Data between China and the U.S. – Joint U.S. / China CODATA study of opportunities and barriers to sharing remote sensing and other earth observation data Sustainability Strategies for Publicly Funded Scientific Databases – Characterize the publicly funded data landscape. Provide recommendations for sustainable economic support models from public, academic, private sectors for publicly funded data. Building a Biomedical Knowledge Network (Joint with Board on Life Sciences) – Consensus study to define information commons and knowledge network for biomedical and scientific research. BRDI Competition on Research Data and Information / 2013 Lee Dirks Prize – Open competition for novel ideas / tools / processes / models using open, publicly available digital data and information to address a societal problem Legal Interoperability of Research Data – Workshop to bring together stakeholders to discuss legal framework that supports appropriate attribution and sharing of research data.
