 Age –  Education –  Government requirements that cause a decrease in voter turnout - Likely or Unlikely to Vote?

 Linkage Institutions – the channels or access points in which peoples preferences get on the governments policy agenda. Examples?  How do these examples connect citizens to government? Linkage Institutions

Voting Rights Act of 1965  Eliminated voter registration requirements (Ex: literacy tests) that prevented minorities from voting – led to increased access for minority voters.  Created federal oversight of elections that helped eliminate discriminatory practices (voter intimidation, ballot fraud).  Eliminated the use of English only ballots that decreased minority voting.minority voting.
