silicon Valley Silicon Valley an area south of San Francisco, California is where the first chip or Silicon Disk that held information was created. To this day, Silicon Valley is home to many technology companies, such as Apple and Google.

Apple THe Apple Company was created in 1976 and produced the first Desktop computer. Apple II was the first computer designed for personal use. International Business Machines (IBM) introduced a personal computer, called a PC, to compete with Apple in Apple Company then built the Macintosh computer in 1984 with the first icons and mouse.

Microsoft Software is the programs created to tell computers what to do. Bill Gates helped design a software called Windows in Windows is an operating system that tells computers how to show icons and work with the computer’s mouse or other accesories.

Internet In 1969, the U.S. Defense department created a system where computers could talk to each other all over the U.S. This system called the internet lets people post and receive information from all over the world.
