A new position sensitive strip array Wilton Catford (Surrey, UK) with LPC Caen, Birmingham, Paisley T R A ransfer eaction rray

TiaRA : transfer reaction array Strip detector box to fit inside EXOGAM Position sensitive, resistive strips Forward (& back) angle annular strips Design aimed at coincidence transfer work Also suits coulex and fusion-evaporation New development, subject of new grant bid

Light particle in strip array, record angle and energy Heavier particle or sequential breakup fragment in segmented zero degree detector Gamma ray(s) in EXOGAM, energy gives accurate excitation energy, even when using quite thick target

Light charged particles in strip array, record angle and energy for channel selection and Doppler correction Evaporation residue and forward scattered beam continues beyond view of gamma array Gamma ray(s) in EXOGAM n p  p Energy loss in Si gives particle ID

Scattered beam particles in strip array, measuring angle and energy for multi-step excitation in large angle scattering, and also allowing Doppler correction Forward angle scattering can be identified beyond the array, e.g. using MEGHA, for low states Gamma ray(s) in EXOGAM

50 mm square Signal taken from each end of each strip strips each 3mm wide resistive strips Position sensitive silicon strip detectors

DAQ system for TRA System under development with LPC Caen and GANIL trigger VIC bus signals data and control event flow DIGITAL DLT8 Gb disk CAENet SUNsort UDP/IP CAEN N568 amps GANIL adc/tdc’s

Proposed deployment of TRA At end of LISE in D6, using beam from LISE production target At end of LISE in D6, using beam from SISSI production target, with energy tagging in first LISE dipole In each of above, using 4 EXOGAM detectors in close geometry In each of above, possibly using DEMON or sweeping magnet With EXOGAM-12 in G2 with SISSI or SPIRAL beams As above, with alternative MEGHA detector at forward angles In front of VAMOS and simultaneously with EXOGAM-12 in G1
