Study Skills With Audio Notetaker

How to use Audio Notetaker for: Note taking Brainstorming Presentation practice Feedback and assessment Research

Note Taking Note taking is fraught with challenges! Students must simultaneously: Listen Assess Write/type Synthesise Participate

CARE Split the process into two stages: Listen, Capture and Annotate Review, Engage, Outline and Document. This leave the student free to engage in discussions and also reduces the pressure of creating written notes under time constraints.

Brainstorming Using text can interrupt the flow of thoughts as the student must pause to write Does the student find text easy to work with? If brainstorming as a group, using audio may be beneficial to capture all contributions. Use custom colour keys to create visual links between information, including audio, text and images. Create audio summaries of the ideas captured

Presentation Practice Self assessment Tone, pace, clarity Is the content relevant? Build confidence before performing the presentation publically

Feedback and Assessment Track the progress of students and provide feedback as well as tangible evidence of achievements. Create text notes and audio summaries to provide students with constructive feedback. Export by colour to show when students have met certain targets

Research Keep a record of all resources found, from videos to websites, books, and blogs Prepare projects for interviews Use colour keys to identify useful quotes or areas for further research Export essential information
