The Invisible Man has a recurring dream about his grandfather’s curse. The curse was that the white people didn’t want the blacks to act the way they demanded, but the way they were stereotyped.

The Invisible Man goes to live in a Men’s House, while in New York. The other men who are living there and looking for work are like his brothers. They live together and talk with each other about work and such things.

Norton had a beautiful daughter that he was very close to. They traveled the world together. While they were attending an embassy party in Munich she passed out. Everything he has done since then is in reflection of his memory of her.

When the Invisible Man went to the hospital it was a form of his rebirth in many ways. He could become any person he wanted, because he no longer had an identity.

After his hospital experience Mary Rambo took him in as her own son. She was his temporary new mother. Later on Mary even calls the Invisible Man her son.

As the Invisible Man walks past an apartment where an elderly couple is being evicted from their apartment. All of the onlookers work together to help this unfortunate couple to stay at their apartment.

Throughout the book, the IM encounters many father figures along the way. Many of them are untrustworthy, but father figures despite this.

1) Norton- According to Norton, he and the IM are bound together by destiny. 2) Emerson JR.- Revealed the truth of Bledsoe’s lies and guided him into his future. 3) Bledsoe- The IM sees himself as a younger Bledsoe and views himself as Bledsoe’s son, only to be deceived by Bledsoe.
