WATER WOOD WORLD (WWW) By: Gillian St. John and Joy Tyrlick

WHAT IS WATER WOOD WORLD? Water Wood World is a water park where all slides are handcrafted wood slides. Don’t worry, there is padding in all of our slides… Except for one slide. This slide is called The Splinter Slide. If you make it to the bottom and you don’t get any cuts or splinters, then you get a free oak padded chair. (We are not responsible for any deaths or damages due to our park). Water Wood World can have up to 200 employees working at a time.

AD Water Wood World is the best and most unique water park in Georgia. There are a lot of water slides, like the Splinter Slide and the Swirly Slide. The first time you come, you will a coupon get in free on your next visit. Water Wood World has very nice bathrooms and nice employees. We will even teach you how to surf! Water Wood World is truly one-of-a-kind!

HELP WANTED! Water Wood World needs more employees to keep the park clean, safe, and busy. Some jobs available are doctor, chairgiver, patrol, and body examiner. You will need experience if you want to be a doctor, patrol, or the body examiner. Come on over and have some fun at Water Wood World!

MANAGER The manager is in charge of all things and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. The manager takes care of all negative and positive situations concerning customers. The manager makes $40 per hour. (X) hours(Y) $ 0$0 1$40 8$320 20$800 40$1,600

DOCTOR The doctor’s job is to help injured people get better. The doctor needs to take their job very seriously with no monkey business. The doctor makes $30 for every hour. (X) Hour(Y) $ 0$0 1$30 8$240 20$600 40$1,200

“CHAIRGIVER” The chairgiver’s job is to give the free chairs to the lucky people who make it down The Splinter Slide. This person has to be good at watching people slide down slides and giving chairs. The chairgiver makes $5 per hour. (X) hours(Y) $ 0$0 1$5 8$40 20$100 40$200

BODY EXAMINER The body examiner’s job is to examine the people who slide down the Splinter Slide for splinters or cuts. The body examiner must be able to take out splinters and handle blood. The body examiner makes $20 an hour. (X) hours(Y) $ 0$0 1$20 8$160 20$400 40$800

INEQUALITIES D>P The doctor makes more money than the patrol per hour. D<1,600 The doctor makes less than $1600 per week. C<M The Chairgiver makes less money than the manager. X<200 Water Wood World can have up to 200 employees working at a time. X represents the employees. B<2000 The body examiner makes less than 2000 per week. D>25 The doctor makes at least $25 an hour.

QUESTIONS 1.What is the relationship between an independent and a dependent variable? The dependent variable depends on the independent variable. The employees work x hours and make a total of y dollars. The amount of money they make, y, depends on the number of hours they work, x. The hours are the independent varaible, and the money made is the dependent variable. 2.What are three ways to represent a direct variation? You can represent a direct variation by line graph (line has to be straight starting at 0,0), tables, and Y=KX. 3.What is the difference between an equation and an inequality? An equation has = and inequalities have,. Equations only have one answer, but inequalities can have a lot of answers.
