Research Project

Every year, from September 15 through October 15, we celebrate Hispanic-American Heritage Month. Different activities and events are planned throughout the month to honor, learn and celebrate the Hispanic Culture.

To celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month… You will develop a Project on a Hispanic- American Scientist or Inventor

What is the Project about? Select a Hispanic-American Scientist or Inventor. Research information about: Place and date of birth Hispanic background (why is he/she considered Hispanic) Contribution to Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Discuss how his/her contribution has affected your life. Include at least three references. Present a report to summarize your findings. Be creative! Be prepared to present. You can work individually or in a group (no more than 3 members)

Total of 20 pts. Find sources from the Internet, as well as books, journals, or magazines. Name of Scientist/Inventor; date and place of birth; Hispanic background 4 pts. Scientist/inventor’s contribution to STEM (in your own words) 4 pts. Impact of scientist/inventor’s contribution to your life 4 pts. Presentation: appealing and legible. Pictures and/or illustrations of scientist/inventor. 4 pts. Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Included at least three references (sources). 4 pts.

NO PLAGIARISM! Make sure you write the summary and information in your own words. Avoid copying exactly what your sources say. Paraphrase instead. You jeopardize your grade if you plagiarize.
