The 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was elected president on February 16th, 1861. He had two wives, one died (Nancy Washington) so they buried her then Abraham met another woman and they married in D.C. Abe was probably the best U.S president in history. He was also interested in George Washington, who inspired him.

Abraham's Life Abraham was a farmer and lived in many states. Including Kentucky, Illinois, & Indiana. He was said to be a strong man and an excellent worker. But some said he was lazy. “Does he always have a book in his hands?’ People use to say. His wife also inspired to be president, too! He worked for the postal service, and a small store. People barely went there, so sometimes he read a book by a tree. Did you know he delivered mail in his hat, so that is how he got his hat! As a child, Abe barely went to school. Sometimes he wrote mathematical problems on a fire shovel!

Bad Times The Civil war has broken out. Lincoln does not know what to do. This war is against the southern United States. They wanted to become their own nation. The battle of Gettysburg was a successful battle. Lincoln gave a speech there, it wasn’t that long, but everyone liked it!
