The Staten Island Foundation Results Example Focus: Community Services Target: Increases in number of individuals and families experiencing poverty that get their basic needs met (food, clothing, shelter) and connect to other needed resources Anticipated Results: By the end of the project the organization will file tax returns for 1,300 low-income Staten Islanders and secure $2.55 million in tax refunds for Staten Islanders. 700 of these tax clients will be screened for benefits and at least 15% (40) of those identified as potentially eligible for food stamps will be enrolled. 190 new tax clients on Staten Island will be helped to file their taxes and 160 Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) tax returns will be prepared for non-citizens living on Staten Island. Actual Results: We filed 1,526 tax returns on Staten Island. We helped clients secure $2.82 million in refunds at our Staten Island sites. 1,103 tax clients on Staten Island) were screened and 45 enrolled for food stamps. We assisted 374 new tax clients on Staten Island) and prepared 95 ITIN returns on Staten Island.
